Also planted in the same year as Pinot we wanted to experiment with a different but similar variety to Sangiovese, in a portion of land that is ideal for the perfect growth and maturation of this new grape. The challenge was to produce a 100% syrah grape wine with a defined and solid structure but with a more elegant and fruity aromatic bouquet than Sangiovese. The final result has greatly satisfied us……….we can say now the challenge has been proudly won.

Tasting notes: The aroma one smells with the nose is exactly that which is found on the palate. Very well balanced in each measure, shows good acidity with delicate and soft tannins, intense, persistent and pleasant.
Vinification: The grapes are hand harvested towards the end of September and are destemmed and pressed softly. They then follow a 15 to 20 day alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and then the skins are removed. The wine is then put in small French oak barrels for approx. 12 months where there is a consistent batonnage taking place. This means that the wine is kept in constant movement as there is a gentle agitation of the wine, which puts the yeasts in suspension. This process gives the wine a special quality. The bottling of the wine then takes place without filtration and continues to age in the bottle for an additional 10 months.
